The hippopotamus is a giant animal with a strong and big jaw. They are a very territorial animal. Though they are vegetarian, if some animal or human cause any threat to hippo, they will attack with their brute force. In Africa, most people died in the attack of hippos. This animal can mostly be found in African territory. The Egyptians have many myths about this giant animal. Actually, the name Hippopotamus comes from Egypt. It means river horse. In ancient Egypt, hippos ruled the fertile mud of the Nile river. There was a goddess named Tauret. She was a goddess of protection and fertility. She was portrayed as a standing hippo with human breasts. The Hippopotamus also symbolize rejuvenation and rebirth. The Hippopotamus of red color is associated with the god Seth and disorder.
